What's Changing for 2024

Our newest benefit changes

Add or Increase Supplemental Life, AD&D and/or LTD

We introduced The Hartford as our new life and disability vendor effective October 1, 2023.

The Hartford is offering a one-time opportunity this annual enrollment for employees not currently enrolled in supplemental insurance coverage to enroll in additional coverage up to the guaranteed issue amount without Evidence of Insurability (EOI), which is usually a health screening. The amounts are:

  • Supplemental life and/or AD&D up to the lesser of 3 times covered earnings and $400,000,
  • Spouse life up to $10,000, and
  • Supplemental long-term disability, low or high option.

The coverage elected during annual enrollment without EOI will be effective January 1, 2024. In future years, EOI will apply to new coverage elections made during annual enrollment.

If you are currently enrolled, you still can make changes to your supplemental life and AD&D, spouse/child life and supplemental long-term disability coverage, subject to any applicable Evidence of Insurability (EOI) requirements, or to discontinue your current supplemental coverage.

You now enroll for supplemental LTD coverage as well as supplemental life and/or AD&D coverage, directly with the Hartford, at www.thehartford.com/benefits/enroll. Prior supplemental long-term disability elections that previously showed in HRConnect have been transferred to The Hartford.

If you currently have any supplemental insurance coverage, please register at The Hartford to confirm your coverage, demographic, dependent and beneficiary information, as applicable, is correct or add any missing information needed, or to enroll or make changes or discontinue current coverage. Your user ID is your employee ID and your initial password is your initials followed by your date of birth in MMDDYYYY format. You may receive emails directly from The Hartford at EmployeeBenefits@MarketWORKS.TheHartford.com and enroll@email.thehartfordatwork.com.

Basic life and disability coverage, and the flex credit you receive toward the purchase of supplemental life insurance, will continue to show in HRConnect.

The Resolutions wellness program is redesigned effective January 1, 2024

Segal offers the Resolutions wellness program, newly redesigned for 2024 and an easy way to earn money as you work on your own health goals. Eligible employees will receive a cash award for completing a health assessment once the application has been approved. The health assessment can help in identifying health issues early which can reduce medical care needs and improve your overall health. Your health information will not be shared with anyone at Segal.

Starting in 2024 we’re doubling the amount of the cash awards available! Complete the health assessment next year and receive up to $100. Have your spouse or spousal equivalent complete one, too, and receive up to $50.

Please note: We’re no longer offering the smoking cessation and weight loss components of the current Resolutions program, effective December 31, 2023. This is due to lack of participation and coverage of tobacco cessation medications under our medical and prescription programs. Since reimbursement for nutritionist visits is already available under the Everyday Well-being program at a higher dollar level, it is being removed from the Resolutions program as well.

Updates to costs and contributions

  • Contributions not increasing: Contributions for Guardian Dental and VSP vision will remain the same in 2024 as they are in 2023 (and also were in 2022). The optional life and disability contributions will remain the same as those that Segal negotiated with The Hartford to be effective October 1, 2023.
  • Contributions increasing: Contributions for the Aetna HDHP and Aetna PPO will have a small increase. Contributions for the Aetna EPO, Kaiser Northern and Southern CA HMOs and Emblem Health HMO will go up in 2024. Review the new contribution rates applicable to you, in HRConnect.
  • HSA contribution limits: In 2024 the maximum pretax contribution you may make is increasing to $4,150 if you have individual coverage and $8,300 if you have employee plus one or employee plus family coverage. If you’re age 55 or older in 2024, you can make an additional $1,000 pretax catch-up contribution.
  • FSA contribution limits: For 2024, the Health Care Flexible Spending Account annual limit is $3,050, with the ability to roll over up to 20% of unused funds from one year to the next. The Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account limit will remain at $5,000.
  • Employees with HRA balances will see a $39 decrease in their accounts. If you still have an HRA balance as of January 1, 2024, it will be reduced by the annual account administration fee of $39. Each subsequent January 1, HRA account balances again will be reduced by the annual administration fee, so you should continue to spend down your account.
